The RASV Board, management and staff were saddened to learn of the passing of Margaret McIver, passing away on 21 July 2020 at the age of 86. Margaret was Australia's first Olympic dressage rider, competing at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games.

Further to the difficult decision that was made by the RASV Board to cancel the 2020 Royal Melbourne Show, I had the privilege of speaking with the Governor of Victoria, Honourable Linda Dessau AC to inform her of the decision. As the Head of State and also as the Patron of the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria, Her Excellency expressed her disappointment yet understanding and support of the decision made.

It is with sadness that The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria acknowledges the passing of RASV Life Member, sheep breeder, RASV Councillor and Retired RASV President, Mr Robert Beggs AM.
